Security University

(Shameless plug for my company: http://www.rmiss.net)

Overall, the best place I've trained is probably Security University (www.securityuniversity.com).  Sondra Schneider is the owner/founder/CEO.  If you're in the information security industry, you might recognize her name.  She's one of the best security professionals in the country, if not the world.  In other words, she's a supreme guru stud-ette.  ;)

Comments:

The only knock on the number of classes is that no Cisco classes are offered.  Having said that, there's plenty of "Cisco Class Factories" out there.  SU has a tremendous class schedule that's full of intense and entertaining subjects.  If you're into wireless/wireless security, hacking/anti-hacking, secure programming, or looking for your CISSP, this is definitely the place to go.

I've taken several classes from SU (ECSA, LPT CWNA, CWSP, and Security Architecture).  My repeat business is the best reference I could ever give to a company.  The instructors are phenomenal (Especially Kimberly).

Her registration process is simple, and she rarely cancels classes.  I've been in a class with as few as THREE students.  My boss was actually in a class by himself!  Show me any other company that has enough integrity to take care of their CUSTOMERS!

The facilities in McLean Virginia were above average, but nothing to shout about.  They've since moved into a new location, so I'm not sure how those compare.

Another GREAT thing about SU is that if I have any kind of problem, I can right to the CEO and she'll take care of it expediently.  My experiences with other company's senior management is quite dubious... read my Ascolta review.

Yet another great thing is SU's training materials.  Most companies just order the 'pre-canned, authorized training materials' from the appropriate vendor.  SU goes above and beyond that by providing supplemental materials and labs in addition to the afore-mentioned materials.  Bravo!

Sondra Schneider was kind enough to provide me with this quote:

"About the SU/ Southern Ute Shared Services experience...

No way was I prepared for the determination of a single organization to raise their level of information security and assurance. From the top management positions to the advanced system administrators, this small but effective IT operations team came to SU security classes and left with enthusiasm and determination to make a difference for their organization. It was evident from the management comments and emails and the security changes they implemented after Peter attended classes were making a difference. .

For us, Peter was an asset to each class he participated in and we welcome him back always..  hey Peter, what classes are you interested in?  Been too long :)

Thank you so much for the kind words about me and SU. We/ I really appreciate it. "
